GDPR Compliance

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect on 25th May 2018. It introduces enhanced responsibilities on organisations operating in the UK and Europe that collect personal data.

Here are the main points of our GDPR compliance:

We are GDPR compliant

Data ownership

All ticket buyer and attendee data is owned by the event organiser.
When you use the LIVE IT platform for selling tickets and collecting data from your ticket buyers the event organiser is the data controller of all data. LIVE IT are a facilitator for the processing of this data, which means that we won’t do anything with attendees’ data other than what the event organiser needs us to do in order to provide our service. We don’t share their data with anyone (except with the Third Party Processors we use) and if the event organiser or the ticket buyer wants us to delete any data, all they need to do is to send an email to support@liveit.io.

Data protection

We store all personal data and databases in the EU on our servers at Amazon Web Services. We use a number of third parties to provide our services and we have ensured that they are either GDPR compliant or the data we provide them doesn’t breach our GDPR compliance. You can find the full list of these third parties in our Third Party Processors list.

Organiser’s privacy policy

Under the GDPR, every organiser must tell attendees why they are collecting their personal data and how they are using it. Usually this information is set out in the terms and conditions that the organiser sets out per event but it also may be set out on their website. From the 25th of May 2018 every organiser will have had to agree that they have set out a privacy policy for their event and it should be clearly stated in the terms and conditions of their event.

Email opt-in

Under data protection laws, the event organiser and LIVE IT need to collect consent to send email marketing. On the LIVE IT platform, a ticket booker has the option to opt-in to receive marketing emails from the event organiser or from LIVE IT. Our system allows event organisers to import mailing lists directly into Mailchimp and these lists are ONLY of persons that have consented to receive marketing emails from event organisers by ticking the consent box during the booking process.
